Pure Italian in Balwyn North is a busy and gorgeous little Italian cafe tucked into a shopping strip east of Burke Road. The locals love this place but it would be remiss to think Pure Italian is not worth a visit from across town. Simple but perfect, in the traditionally heartfelt Italian way, Pure Italian has a great menu and a generously hospitable vibe.
Eat my street visited for brunch; coffee, eggs. You know the drill.
We were greeted with a friendly “Buongiorno” as soon as we entered the cafe and this perfectly set the tone for the rest of our morning.
I am a soft touch for a fridge cabinet bursting with cheese, pasta, salad and cakes and so you can imagine this photo makes me very happy. I also have a penchant for collecting things, so the supplies of olive oil, condiments, snapshots and Nutella that lined the walls, made me feel right at home.
To the food. I ordered 2 free range eggs on sourdough with a side of bacon. $9.50 plus $4.00.
There were a lot of other lovely sounding options including the Banana bread with coffee mascarpone and caramelised walnuts. $13. This will be a perfect excuse for me to visit again soon.
Overall Pure Italian is a perfect little brunch spot with a great Specials board and a reliably spot on menu. A perfect place to visit for brunch or lunch with a friend as this is a cafe that gets the balance just right, so you can focus on conversation and relaxation. You just might have to vie with the locals in order to get a table.
